Every day we wake up in the morning and as soon as we open the newspaper with our daily cup of tea we see some entrepreneurs and their companies being evaluated in not millions but billions of dollars. These companies can better be called startups. Startups are small groups of people bound together by a sense of mission to change the world for better. Every startup needs to choose its market carefully and expand deliberately. It is easier to reach a few thousand people who really need the product than to try to compete for the attention of millions of scattered individuals . therefore, every startup should start with a small market , its easier to dominate a small market than a large one.
The pandemic has brought in some new thoughts and start-up entrepreneurs may want to carefully look at how global and domestic capital pools are looking to reset expectations. According to an article I read days ago, India approximately has more than 50 unicorns out of which 60% became one in 2021 alone. Not only this but Indians have created more than 60 unicorn outside of India, in other countries.
Also as young entrepreneurs prepare to look at new problems to solve that are worthy of becoming disruptions in the next decade, I would like to stick my neck out and predict one global mega-trend, one Indian mega-trend and one serious disruption that would define the next decade. As I conclude I want to see the next decade pushing us to build a world free of hunger, poverty and inequality. I aspire to see impact unicorns that have a billion dollars in market capitalization and at the same time taking actions to minimize poverty in small villages too.
